Tucson, Arizona, a desert oasis for wellness seekers, has long been synonymous with high-end health resorts. Since the 1970s, when Canyon Ranch first opened its doors, followed by Miraval, this corner of the Sonoran Desert has been a beacon for those seeking a transformative escape. But does the reality match the promise?

The turning point of my obsession started with being targeted on social media for Canyon Ranch’s “all you can spa program” which is $900 to $2,150 per guest per night (with a 3 night minimum), including taxes and fees, and including unlimited healthy meals and snacks. What they don’t tell you is they only have a limited amount of “all you can spa” and other specialized programs at a time so they book out quickly and well in advance.

In early celebration for my wedding next month, my mom, sisters, and I took the trip from the corners of the country to CR Tucson for some much needed R&R.
